400,000 kilometres in a month is difficult to picture, so here is one way to put it into perspective: that is approximately 286 one-way Johannesburg-to-Cape Town road trips, based on a route of around 1,400 km.

That distance is not about collecting impressive numbers. It represents loads collected, deadlines protected, major centres connected and customers depending on our linehaul network to keep their own businesses moving.

Scale matters in logistics, but consistency matters even more. After more than two decades in the industry, we know the real achievement is doing it again next month.

Fatigue does not always arrive with an obvious warning, which is exactly why early detection matters in long-distance road freight. Strata Logistics is investing in Smart Eye technology to add another intelligent layer of support for the drivers behind our linehaul operation.

Using AI-powered monitoring, the system can identify indicators associated with fatigue and distraction and provide real-time alerts to help re-engage the driver. It is proactive safety designed around the person behind the wheel, not technology for technology’s sake.

Because protecting the driver helps protect the load, the fleet, other road users and the customer’s supply chain.

We’re pleased to announce an exciting new chapter in Strata Logistics’ relationship with City Logistics.

Building on an established working relationship, Strata has secured additional business moving loads between Johannesburg and Gaborone, Botswana — extending our linehaul capability beyond South Africa’s borders.

The new contract will see 5 Strata vehicles operating on the South Africa to Botswana route, with different vehicle sizes deployed according to the requirements of each load.

For our customers, that kind of flexibility matters. Because freight doesn’t conveniently arrive in one shape, one size or with one set of requirements.

The right logistics solution means having the capacity, fleet and experience to respond to what the load actually needs. For Strata, this contract represents something equally important: organic growth built on an existing relationship and continued trust.

Deon De Villiers, Managing Member of Strata Logistics, says:

There’s a lot happening at Strata Logistics right now, and today we took some time to catch up with our marketing agency and talk about the road ahead.

With new business coming on board, new truck and trailer combinations joining our fleet, and our exciting new contracts taking us across the border into Botswana, there’s plenty of positive momentum across the business.
