Metrorail Gauteng Dear Commuters The rolling stock fleet of 406 train sets comprises coaches which were built between 1958 and 1985.

Metrorail is responsible for transporting over 2.2 million passengers in the following operational areas: Gauteng, Cape Town, Durban and Eastern Cape at 317 stations of the 468 stations that Metrorail operates in, the remainder belongs to Transnet Freight Rail. Fewer than 3 percent of the fleet are coaches that were bought in the mid-eighties with relatively newer technology. Diesel locomotives ar

Established as a fully fledged business unit of Transnet in 1996, Metrorail has focused on the delivery of commuter rail services in six major metropolitan areas, while assuming responsibility for the maintenance of the operational asset base.

🚆😊 A SPECIAL DAY OUT FOR CHARITY DAYCARE CENTRE! 😊🚆

PRASA Metrorail Gauteng is today transporting 29 learners and 6 educators from Charity Daycare Centre on an exciting train trip from Naledi Station to Johannesburg Park Station.

The young learners are enjoying a memorable rail experience filled with excitement, laughter and discovery. From the moment they arrived at the station, their enthusiasm has been contagious as they eagerly prepare for their journey.

Educational train trips provide learners with an opportunity to experience rail transport firsthand while fostering an appreciation for public transport from an early age.

For many young children, these trips create unforgettable memories and introduce them to the world of rail travel in a fun and safe environment.

We wish our young travellers an enjoyable journey and hope they make many happy memories along the way!
