Today we welcomed Joy Issel, owner of , as a special guest in our sewing and entrepreneurship session for Net vir Pret -Aftercare and youth centre.

Sophia’s is more than a coffee shop - it’s a legacy. Named after her grandmother, Joy carries that heritage with her in how she builds, speaks, and connects with people.

I remember arriving in Ladismith almost five years ago and being inspired by her presence, her strength, and the way she moves through her work. Having her next door was a powerful influence.

Today, she shared her journey, her way of thinking, and her approach to her business identity with the group - and it really landed. There was a strong sense of connection, reflection, and recognition in the room.

We even walked over to the shop together, where she showed us images of her grandmother and the roots of Sophia’s.

Grateful for the exchange, the energy, and the reminder that business can be built with story, resilience, and heart. ✨
