The female southern masked weaver, the ultimate property inspector.
The male does all the building, but she’s the final decision-maker. She’ll hang upside down, tug, and even partially tear the nest to test its strength. If it’s not up to standard, she rejects it instantly (no second chances).

Once she approves a nest, she’ll redesign the interior adding softer lining such as grass and feathers. She also adjusts its shape for egg safety.
Think of it as moving into a new house… and immediately renovating.

So interesting to observe.

Today Sam went head-to-head with the mighty Atlantis dunes, and gave zero mercy!

Five kilometers of pure sand grind, and just when she’d given herself a pat on the back for a job well done, she was back lining up at the start for the 1km semi-final sprint 😂

The dunes threw everything at the athletes today, and as gruelling as it was, Sam said it was absolutely worth every burning step.
