Ever hiked Lion’s Head and spotted a gentleman in a THREE-PIECE SUIT? 🎩🥾

Meet Armani “Mr Poppins” Minani!

We came across Armani while hiking Lion’s Head one Sunday, and let’s just say… he certainly knows how to make an entrance! While most of us are dressed for the climb in our hiking gear, Armani has become known for taking on the mountain in his signature three-piece suit.

But there’s much more to this gentleman than his unforgettable hiking style.

Behind the suit is a man using his online platforms to make a real difference in people’s lives. ❤️

Through initiatives such as Reveal the Cape to Me, which introduces township youth to Cape Town and its attractions, and Touching a Tummy at a Time, which provides food for people experiencing homelessness, Armani is using his visibility to create positive social impact.

And honestly, isn’t that what makes a person truly memorable? Not just being recognised wherever they go, but using that recognition to do good.

So, if you're visiting Cape Town and hiking Lion’s Head, keep your eyes open! 👀 You might just cross paths with Mr Poppins himself.

And if you do, give him a friendly greeting. You may even get to meet the man behind the suit!

As locals, we’re always proud to discover people who make our beautiful city special in ways that go far beyond its scenery. Cape Town has incredible mountains, beaches and views, but it’s also the people and their stories that make this place worth exploring.

Come for the views. Stay for the stories. 🇿🇦❤️

The 🍓berry best day trip!

If you are currently in Cape Town, take a drive to Stellenbosch and pick your own strawberries 🍓 🍓🍓 before heading off to your next adventure! It’s a great snack to take along on a walk over the next day or two if you are walking the cliff paths at Hermanus or along Sea Point’s promenade 😋

Cape Town weather doesn’t always follow the itinerary… and that’s okay. 🌬️☀️

Over the last few days, Cape Town reminded us of something every visitor should know: don’t try to fight the weather—work with it.

Strong winds meant that some of the city’s most popular experiences, including the Table Mountain Cableway and Robben Island Museum, were temporarily affected. And when conditions aren’t cooperating, there’s no point forcing an itinerary simply because it was written down beforehand.

Instead, we changed the plan.

On the windier days, we kept things closer to the city and spent time exploring on foot. We wandered through the colourful streets of Bo-Kaap, took a stroll through the Company’s Garden, and explored Greenmarket Square—places where you can still experience plenty of Cape Town’s history, culture and character without needing perfect weather.

And then… the weather changed. 🌤️

So did we.

Once conditions improved, it was time to head out on the Cape Peninsula—from the penguins at Boulders Beach, to the dramatic landscapes of Cape Point, and finally along the spectacular Chapman’s Peak Drive.

This is one of the things I always tell visitors coming to Cape Town:

Leave a little room in your itinerary.

Cape Town can give you four seasons in a day, and sometimes the experience you planned for Tuesday makes much more sense on Wednesday.

If Table Mountain isn't operating, there are plenty of other ways to experience the city. If the wind is too strong for one activity, there may be another part of Cape Town where conditions are perfectly enjoyable.

And sometimes, the best travel days are the ones you didn't originally plan.

A little flexibility can turn a weather problem into a completely different Cape Town experience. 🇿🇦

Local tip: When planning your Cape Town visit, don’t pack your itinerary so tightly that you have no room to move things around. Keep a few activities flexible and let the weather help decide which day you do what.

A day on the Cape West Coast 🌼🌊

There are places that don’t need much introduction — the Cape West Coast is one of them.

Just a short drive from Cape Town, the landscape changes completely. The city disappears behind you and suddenly there are wide-open spaces, sweeping coastlines, dramatic lagoons and, in spring, fields bursting into colour.

Our recent West Coast day was a wonderful mix of nature, food and culture.

🌼 We started with wildflower spotting in the West Coast National Park, where the landscape puts on one of South Africa’s most spectacular seasonal shows.

🦐 From flowers to food, we headed to Langebaan for a wonderfully authentic seafood experience at Die Strandloper — the kind of long, relaxed meal that reminds you that good food is as much about the setting and the people as it is about what’s on the plate.

🌍 We then spent time at !Khwa Ttu San Culture & Education Centre, discovering more about the history, heritage and living culture of the San people. It was a meaningful reminder that the West Coast is about far more than beautiful scenery.

And that, for me, is what makes this part of the Western Cape so special.

It feels unfiltered, unhurried and wonderfully unpretentious. There are beaches where you can escape the crowds, fishing villages steeped in history, local flavours worth travelling for, and landscapes that change dramatically with the seasons.

The West Coast isn’t just somewhere you drive through on your way to somewhere else.

It’s a destination in its own right. ❤️🇿🇦

And perhaps the best way to experience it is to slow down, leave the itinerary a little flexible and let the day unfold.

🐋 Did you know that the world’s only official Whale Crier walks the cliffs of Hermanus?

If you’re planning your Cape Town holiday right now, this is one coastal tradition you definitely want on your radar!

Turn your sound up for this quick video we caught of the Whale Crier blowing his horn near the Old Harbour. That deep, echoing sound is actually made from a real piece of dried kelp (seaweed)! 🌊

📜 The Story Behind the Kelp Horn

Back in 1991, a traveler told the local tourism office that the incredible whale sightings in Walker Bay were the Cape's "best-kept secret."
To change that, a local named Jim Wepener came up with a brilliant idea inspired by old-school town criers. In August 1992, Pieter Claasen who was an employee at the Hermanus Old Harbour, was appointed as the world’s very first official Whale Crier, patrolling the cliffs to make sure no one missed a sighting.

It’s easily one of the most charming traditions in South Africa. Spotting these gentle giants from the shore is magical enough, but hearing that horn echo across the bay just takes the experience to the next level.

Planning your Cape Town itinerary?
Hermanus is an easy, scenic drive from the city. While you can rent a car, a lot of travelers love booking a private day trip out here so they can just sit back, enjoy the coastal views, and let a local guide handle the drive.

Drop a comment below if whale watching is on your South Africa bucket list! 👇

The seal that looks cute… but has a few tricks up its sleeve 🦭🐟

If you’ve ever visited Kalk Bay Harbour, you’ve probably seen the local Cape fur seals keeping a very close eye on the fishermen.

And let’s be honest — they are incredibly entertaining.

They know exactly where the fish scraps and discarded bait are going, and they’re clever enough to realise that hanging around humans can sometimes mean an easy meal. Some have become surprisingly good at begging — and tourists understandably find the whole spectacle fascinating.

But here’s the important part: please don’t feed them.

🦭 They can become aggressive.
When seals learn that people = food, they can start demanding it. A large seal may look friendly, but they are powerful wild animals, and bites or injuries can happen surprisingly quickly.

🐟 They need to learn how to hunt.
Especially for young seals, relying on handouts can interfere with learning the skills they need to find and catch their own food in the ocean.

🍽️ A handful of scraps isn’t the same as a natural diet.
Fish scraps and processed bait may not provide the variety and nutritional balance a seal gets from hunting naturally.

🎣 And there’s another hidden danger.
Seals hanging around boats and fishing areas are more likely to encounter hooks, fishing line, nets and plastic debris — all of which can cause horrific injuries or even death.

So by all means, watch them, photograph them and enjoy their cheeky personalities — just give them some space and let them remain wild.

Sometimes the best wildlife experience is the one where we admire an animal without turning it into a pet. 🌊🦭

If you’re visiting Cape Town and would like to experience places like Kalk Bay, the Cape Peninsula and the surrounding coastline with a more intimate, private touring experience, you’re welcome to reach out to Ready2Go Cape Shuttles.
