It's me... Miensie. Or Mrs Knotty. Or Miens. Or Mamma. 😊

Today, I simply want to say thank you.

Thank you to every person who has supported Knotty Habit over the years. Whether you've bought a skein of yarn, joined a knit night, stopped by our stall at a market, shared a post, or simply cheered us on from the sidelines — you have helped make this little dream possible.

I am continually humbled by the love, kindness and friendships that have grown from this business. What started as a passion for yarn has become a community, and for that I am deeply grateful.

Something many people don't realise is that when you support Knotty Habit, you're supporting so many other businesses too. We make a conscious effort to work with local South African suppliers wherever possible, and around 95% of the businesses we use are proudly South African.

We have a variety of leather labels.

These beautiful reusable Leather labels fold around the edge of your garment and fasten with a stud pin.

The label is approximately 80 mm x 30 mm with the stud pin and hole on the two ends. This makes it possible to wrap the label around the edge of your project, personalising it and giving your project a professional finish.

Note the Tan Colour could vary as it is a natural product.

🐑❄️ KAROO WINTER WOOL FESTIVAL 2026 ❄️🐑

We are excited beyond words that we will be at the Karoo Winter Wool Festival in Middelburg, Eastern Cape, from 3–5 July 2026!

The planning has already begun, the dye pots are working overtime, and we may be spending an unreasonable amount of time dreaming about yarn. 🧶✨

We're busy creating a beautiful collection of hand-dyed yarn, carefully chosen accessories, and plenty of yarnie goodness to bring along for a truly special wool-filled weekend.

Whether you're a knitter, crocheter, spinner, weaver, or simply someone who appreciates beautiful fibre, this festival is one of the highlights of the South African fibre calendar, and we can't wait to be part of it.

Mark your calendars, gather your fibre friends, and start planning your trip to the heart of the Karoo. We'd love to see familiar faces, meet new friends, and share our love of all things wool with you.

KYSO… One of our personal favourite bases. This one is composed of 75% merino and 25% nylon, but since it’s our fantastic local superwashed merino, it is wonderfully soft and smooth. The acronym stands for “Knock Your Socks Off” but this base is not just for sock knitting – it is suitable for any project that calls for fi*****ng weight yarn! It will make fantastic sweaters, cardigans, shawls and even hats!

The nylon component means the garment will be hard wearing, but the merino makes it still soft and pleasant against your skin.
