Moving can be stressful for us, but have you ever thought about how confusing it can be for our pets?
Dogs and cats don't understand why their familiar surroundings are suddenly disappearing into boxes.
Here are a few simple things you can do to make moving day a little easier for them:
🐾 Keep their routine. Try to maintain their usual feeding and walking times, even when everything around them is changing.
🐾 Create a safe space. On moving day, keep your pets in a quiet, secure room away from the noise and activity of the movers.
🐾 Don't wash their bedding just yet. Familiar smells can help them feel safe and comfortable in their new surroundings.
🐾 Pack a little bag just for them. Include their favourite toys, food, water bowl, treats and anything else they might need.
🐾 Give them time to adjust. Some pets settle in immediately, while others need a few days to feel at home again. Keep them safely indoors or contained while they adjust.
A new home is a fresh start for the whole family — including the ones with paws!

Before you start packing, put together one box with everything you'll need on your first evening in your new home.

Think phone chargers, toiletries, medication, a kettle, mugs, important documents and a change of clothes.

Mark it OPEN FIRST and keep it somewhere easy to reach.

It's such a simple thing, but after a long moving day, you'll be glad you did it!
