Well… it’s only been a few days, but the post-Tanqua Kuru blues have definitely set in. 🌵🚴‍♂️

We're already missing the endless gravel roads, the breathtaking Tankwa landscapes, the early morning starts, and the incredible atmosphere that makes The Tanqua Kuru Bicycle Race. so special year after year.

This year's event was made even more memorable by the incredible people who joined us on the adventure, including Springbok rugby legend Bob Skinstad and filmmakers, pilots, and adventurers Josh Flowers and Chelsea Smith from Aviation101 who travelled all the way from the USA to experience the magic of the Tankwa for themselves.

What an unforgettable weekend of adventure, challenge, camaraderie, and memories made out on the trails. From dusty smiles and hard-earned finishes to spectacular sunsets and everything in between, Tanqua Kuru once again delivered an experience we'll be talking about for a long time to come.

Through this hands-on STEM programme, students won’t just learn about aviation — they’ll live it. From engineering and manufacturing to teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving, learners will gain real-world experience by building an actual all-metal Sling 2 aircraft alongside educators, mentors, and industry professionals.

Our distributor, Sling Aircraft Poland, will be joining the Fly Rotax Fly-In 2026 World Tour at Leszno-Strzyżewice Airport on 23 May with their beautiful Sling TSi on display. Whether you’re a pilot, aviation enthusiast, or just curious to see what a Sling is all about, swing by and say hello!

The event brings together the General Aviation, Ultralight and Microlight community with sightseeing flights, lectures, panels, test flights, campfire socials, and plenty of aircraft to admire — all in a relaxed, aviation-loving atmosphere. Best of all? Admission is free! ✈️

After completing their Sling TSi build earlier this year with Sling Aircraft North America, the adventure now continues in Africa as they join the Sling team for an unforgettable journey through the skies of South Africa and Namibia.

From the Karoo to Cape Town and onto Namibia, Josh and Chelsea will be flying both ZU-TSI and ZU-DFU while experiencing the magic of African aviation firsthand.

From The USA To Africa: The Next Aviation101 Sling Adventure Begins! 🇺🇸 🇿🇦

The next Sling adventure is about to unfold, but of course this one promises to be something special.

Joining Mike and James for the journey are filmmakers and pilots Josh and Chelsea from Aviation101, all the way from the USA, as well as their friends, Chris and Keelyn. After documenting and completing their very own Sling TSi build in the States throughout the course of the past year, the duo are now heading to Africa for an unforgettable adventure across some of the continent’s most iconic landscapes and events.

The journey begins in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, where they’ll compete in the Zim Air Rally in ZU-TSI from 21st to 24th May alongside Mike, James, and their wives in ZU-ZED and ZU-DFU. From there, the adventure heads south to the Karoo, where they’ll join Team Sling at the legendary Tanqua Kuru Bicycle Race from 29th to 31st May, before continuing on into the vast and breathtaking landscapes of Namibia until 8th June.

From aviation and racing to dust, desert roads and stories waiting to be told, Aviation101’s next film promises to be an epic one. Keep an eye on both Aviation101 and Sling channels over the next few weeks as the adventure unfolds — and if you happen to spot the crew along the way, be sure to say hello.
