In a hover, the main rotor produces nearly vertical thrust without forward airspeed. The pilot maintains rotor thrust equal to the aircraft’s weight while continuously coordinating collective, cyclic, and anti-torque pedals to manage power, torque reaction, and wind effects, keeping the helicopter at a constant altitude, heading, and position.

Two airshows, two days, and a chance to see it all from above.
Henley Air will be offering helicopter flips at the Pretoria Airshow on Saturday, 29 August 2026, and again at the Rand Airshow on Sunday, 30 August 2026.

Rand Airport is home ground for us, so this show is a special day on the calendar.
Henley Air will be offering helicopter flips at the Rand Airshow on Sunday, 30 August 2026, at Rand Airport, Germiston. The event runs from 08:00 to 16:00, with flying displays, static aircraft, exhibitors, food vendors and family activities throughout the day. A short flip is a good way to see the airfield from the other side of the circuit. So, if you’re at the show, come find us and take a quick look at Rand from above.
