Traxtion launched TraxWiN, a new initiative dedicated to celebrating, supporting and developing women in leadership, on Tuesday, 4 August 2026 at the World of Golf in Woodmead.

TraxWiN is one of our initiatives aimed at advancing gender representation in the rail sector, providing a safe and empowering space for women to connect, grow and thrive.

Through mentorship, collaboration and shared experiences, TraxWiN seeks to nurture the next generation of female leaders while strengthening the legacy of women shaping the future of rail across Africa.

Together, we are creating space for women to lead, inspire and make their mark.

Women’s Month has been a meaningful month in our business.

Today, we reflect on our Traxtion Women’s Day Celebration, hosted on 5 August at Clay Café Montana in Pretoria, where our women came together for a beautiful day of connection, creativity and celebration.

The day was also a powerful reminder to Own Your Power, inspired by a keynote address from Yolisa Kani, Chief Business Development Officer at Transnet Group, and to Know Your Worth, reinforced by Verona Pillay, Director at ASI Wealth.

The celebration honoured the women who keep Traxtion moving forward, while recognising the growing and important role women play in our business and the future of the rail sector.

Here’s to celebrating our women — not just during Women’s Month, but every day.

Traxtion recently hosted its third annual The Future of Rail is Woman event at our Rail Services Hub in Rosslyn, bringing together learners from across Gauteng with women rail professionals and industry partners.

The programme allowed learners to explore careers across the rail industry, connect with professionals and discover the many different pathways available within the sector.

A highlight was the Rail Fair, where learners used their STEM knowledge to develop solutions to real-world rail challenges.

Congratulations to Amandasig Secondary School, this year’s Rail Fair winner! Their creativity, problem-solving skills, and application of STEM knowledge earned them the top spot in the competition.

In the weeks leading up to the event, learners worked alongside mentors from Traxtion, SAFLog, Lucchini South Africa, and Pamodzi Unique Engineering . Through this mentorship, they gained valuable industry insight while developing and refining their ideas for the Rail Fair.

We were proud to welcome learners from:

- Amandasig Secondary School
- Rantailane Secondary School
- Boitumelong Secondary School
- Alafang Secondary School
- Royal Academy of Extra Lessons

Thank you to all our mentors, industry partners, Rovos Rail, and Crawford Dougall for supporting the programme and helping us create meaningful opportunities for young women to learn more about careers in rail. Additionally, we extend our sincere appreciation to Gautrain and Netwide for their generous contributions, which helped make the experience even more memorable and rewarding for the learners.

The future of rail is being shaped today, and it starts with giving young people the opportunity to see themselves as part of it.

More than a competition, it is an opportunity to give young people first-hand exposure to the rail sector and inspire them to see themselves as future engineers, innovators, leaders and industry changemakers.

A huge thank you and congratulations to all our mentors for the work done to date. We can’t wait to see the creativity, ingenuity and bold ideas that each school will bring to the Rail Fair on Friday!
