Hope, Sunway Safaris reservationist, went camping for the first time and visited Victoria Falls! This is what she had to say.
There is a different kind of tranquillity you only find when you get away from the hustle and bustle. It is not silent, but filled with the sounds of nature. A hippo here, a cricket there, the sound of leaves falling… all coming together in a way that just pulls you into the wild.
As a first time camper, it felt like stepping into a different world. Food tastes better around a fire, pitching your own tent becomes an adventure, and after a few huffs and puffs I was proud of my little bush home for the night. Sleeping on the ground is not as strange as you would think. And once the stars come out properly, you forget everything else.
One of the biggest surprises was disconnecting from the digital world for days. It felt like a real reset. Yes, camping is messy and mosquito bites are part of the deal, but waking up to fresh air and sunrise in the bush makes it all worth it.
My journey took me all the way to the majestic Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. Before you even see it, you can hear and feel it. The air changes, the sound builds, and then suddenly you are standing in front of one of the greatest natural wonders on earth.
You get completely soaked by the spray as the water crashes down, with rainbows forming all around you. Mosi oa Tunya, “the smoke that thunders”, is exactly what it feels like. Honestly… it is almost spiritual.
Victoria Falls left me in total awe of nature. Grateful, humbled, and already wanting to go back.
