Fleetwatch Launched in 1994, FleetWatch has, over the years, grown into one of the most respected trucking magazines in the market winning over 60 awards since inception.

FleetWatch was launched in 1993 initially as a fleet risk management journal, and has since evolved into a trucking magazine covering all aspects of the trucking industry with the primary focus on the “issues” facing modern day truckers. The magazine operates under a banner of independent and objective journalism while striving to elevate the trucking industry onto a platform of high priority within the context of the South African economy. We regard ourselves as partners in the industry rather than just mere reporters on the business of trucking. Our prime readership target is aimed at management operating in all areas of transport - ‘professional haulage’ for reward as well as ancillary operators who run transport as part of their overall operations. Many companies have followed the modern trend of outsourcing their transport and the suppliers of such services are also addressed as our target audience. We also get to product suppliers and service providers. The latest Audit Bureau of Circulation figures (January - June 2009) certifies our current distribution at 5 050 copies per month. FleetWatch was voted by the Specialist Press Association as South Africa’s Best Transport magazine six years in a row - 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998 & 1999. The magazine has won 60 awards for publishing and journalistic excellence since its launch in 1993 - the most ever won by any magazine in the history of MPASA. THAT’S A WRAP! BRAKE & TYRE WATCH KIMBERLEY 2026!

And just like that, another FleetWatch Brake & Tyre Watch Campaign has come to an end!

What an incredible two days of learning, sharing knowledge and putting road safety into action in Kimberley!

After a full day of theory, our traffic officials headed to the Sol Plaatje Licence Testing Centre for practical heavy vehicle inspections.

🚛 5 trucks and trailers inspected.
❌ 4 trucks failed their inspections.

One of the biggest concerns identified was ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) defects, including systems not functioning, disconnected components and missing cables.

These findings highlight exactly why initiatives like Brake & Tyre Watch are so important. These are not just technical faults – they are safety concerns that could have serious consequences on our roads.

A special shout-out to Craig Proctor-Parker, our practical training instructor for Day 2 of the FleetWatch Brake & Tyre Watch Campaign in Kimberley!

With multiple inspection stations, industry experts and traffic officials all working together, there’s a lot happening on the ground!

Craig has been keeping everything running smoothly, guiding officials through the practical training, coordinating the stations and ensuring everyone gets the most out of the experience.

Station 5: Vehicle Visibility – ORAFOL South Africa

Being seen is just as important as being roadworthy!

At the ORAFOL station, our traffic officials are learning about vehicle conspicuity markings, reflective tape and the importance of correct visibility markings on commercial vehicles.

Getting hands-on at FleetWatch Brake & Tyre Watch – Kimberley!

Johan van der Merwe from ZF Aftermarket demonstrates how to measure and inspect a truck’s slack adjuster during our Day 2 practical training.

Slack adjusters play a critical role in a heavy vehicle’s braking system, and knowing how to check them correctly is essential when identifying potential brake defects.

This is exactly what Brake & Tyre Watch is about – giving traffic officials practical knowledge they can take straight back to their roadside inspections.

A Big Thank You to UD Trucks Southern Africa!

Day 2 of our FleetWatch Brake & Tyre Watch Campaign in Kimberley is all about putting theory into practice!
