Women's Day is bigger than one post can hold, but three stories are a good place to start.

Sisipho Jeanette Deli graduated from Pindulo VDM's Environmental Practice Learnership in 2026. "The opportunity has helped me grow both professionally and personally," she says. "I've gained confidence, developed practical skills, and learned what it takes to work in a fast-paced environment."

Nomalwandle Xabendlini is currently completing her Professional Driving Learnership, supporting warehouse and depot operations while helping keep deliveries on schedule. "It has meant growth, confidence and purpose," she says. "It's given me skills, responsibility and a chance to prove myself in a space where women are still growing."

Lona Ndabeni is also completing her Professional Driving Learnership, developing practical skills in vehicle inspections, road safety, and the responsible operation of heavy vehicles.

Each of them had something to say to the next woman considering this path-

Nomalwandle: "Go for it. It might look tough from the outside, but it's full of opportunity. Show up, learn, work hard, and take up space."

Lona: "Be willing to learn, remain disciplined and believe in your ability. With commitment and the right support, there are many opportunities for us to grow."

Sisipho: "Believe in yourself, ask questions, and never be afraid to take on new challenges. You might surprise yourself with what you're capable of achieving."

They're not the only women building careers through our learnership programmes. These are simply three stories among many.

This Women's Day, we celebrate their determination, their willingness to keep learning, and every woman choosing to build a future through hard work, resilience, and opportunity.

"Multimodal" gets used as a buzzword across the industry. At Pindulo VDM it describes something specific: a handover.

A load moves by road to a depot, onto rail or into a corridor system, then out through a port, each leg placed with the next one already in mind before the first is finished. That only holds together if the systems behind it are properly built: certified safety and environmental processes, and people who know exactly where a load sits at any given moment, not roughly, exactly.

This isn't a post about jargon. It's about what a word actually costs to deliver on.

Get in touch to see how this capability could support your operation.

Connor Julius is in the third and final year of his degree at the University of Cape Town, with plans to continue his studies by completing his Honours next year.

His interest in accounting began in high school, where his aptitude for numbers and curiosity about financial information set him on a clear path towards becoming a Chartered Accountant.

Through Pindulo VDM's bursary programme, Connor has been able to pursue his studies at UCT.
His first period of vacation work at our Saldanha offices in 2025 gave him practical exposure to a professional working environment and a better understanding of how the knowledge gained through his studies is applied in the workplace.

At the end of that year, while still in the second year of his degree, he was selected by UCT's Commerce Department to tutor first-year Financial Accounting students throughout 2026. Since then, he has returned to our Saldanha offices for further vacation work in January and July 2026, continuing to build practical experience alongside his tutoring and academic commitments.

Tutoring has already taught Connor two lessons that extend well beyond the classroom: prepare thoroughly, but remain ready to adapt when an unexpected question or situation arises.

It is a meaningful achievement when a university selects one of our bursary students to help shape the next group of students coming through. It reflects both Connor's commitment to his studies and the opportunities that education can create.

Please join us in congratulating Connor in the comments.

Recognition often goes to the milestone. Less often to the people who made it possible.

When Pindulo VDM became South Africa's first weighing facility authorised under SOLAS VGM Method 1, it reflected months of planning, collaboration and attention to detail across our operations.

Our sincere thanks to Juanita van der Merwe, SHERQ Officer, who led the authorisation process from start to finish. She was supported by dedicated teams at each depot:
Saldanha: Helena van Wyk, Lyndall Nieuwenhuis and Charl Gee,
Atlantic Hills: Morné Crous and David Oosthuizen, and
Coega: John van der Walt.

Three sites. Three different operating realities.

Saldanha runs against port schedules and weighbridge throughput. Atlantic Hills works within the demands of a metro corridor. Coega operates inside an SEZ with its own access and security protocol.

Running all three under one standard isn't about making them identical. It's about making sure the standard holds regardless of which gate the load passes through.

Consistency isn't sameness. It's discipline applied to different conditions.

Contact our team to discuss your logistics requirements.

A 98.5% service level does not happen by accident. It happens because someone shows up consistently, adapts to what the day requires and holds the standard when it would be easier not to.

Antony Mathebula is a Warehouse Supervisor at Pindulo VDM’s Atlantic Hills facility. Over the past 12 months, his team has maintained a service level above 98.5%, with zero stock losses and zero discrepancies.

The warehouse handles a wide variety of cargo, each with its own handling requirements. Maintaining that result takes more than process knowledge. It takes attention, adaptability and consistent leadership.

Behind every service level is a person who refuses to let standards slip.

Not every load fits the same equipment. That's the point.

Multipurpose containers and a varied fleet aren't about having more. They're about having the right configuration for whatever the cargo actually requires, instead of forcing every job through the same setup and hoping it holds.

That flexibility is built deliberately, not assembled by accident. It's what lets Pindulo VDM say yes to a wider range of freight without saying yes to more risk.

Capability means having the right tool, not just any tool.

Have a load that needs a more considered solution? Let's find the right solution for your supply chain.

Nelson Mandela spent 27 years in prison and emerged still committed to reconciliation, dignity and a shared future. That kind of belief in people is extraordinary.

Mandela Day reminds us that change is not only created by extraordinary people in extraordinary moments. It is also created by ordinary people who choose, on an ordinary day, to do something that matters to someone else.

67 minutes. One meaningful act. One person helped.

In business, we understand that nothing moves without people. Not freight. Not communities. Today is a reminder that the same is true of progress.

However you spend your 67 minutes, may they count for someone.
