✅ A valid driver’s licence
✅ Recent proof of residence

Our local return goods trailer is 3 m × 1.5 m × 1 m, with a 750 kg GVM and a maximum load of 500 kg. Please check that your licence, vehicle and tow bar meet the requirements for towing your intended load.

We have one goods trailer, so booking ahead is a good idea, especially around weekends and month-end.

Our goods trailer offers a practical option for a local transport run when the load is too much for your car. It is a local return hire: collect it from our Umhlali premises and bring it back after the trip.

A trailer can make moving day easier when you have boxes, smaller furniture and household items to transport. Our goods trailer is collected from and returned to Ballito Self Storage in Umhlali.

Need supplies before you load? We also stock moving boxes, packing tape, bubble wrap, labels and mattress covers, so you can pick up what’s missing while you’re here.

A small label can save a lot of searching on moving day.

As you pack, write the destination room and a few key contents on the side of each box. Add “FRAGILE” where needed and number the boxes if you want an easy inventory. Keep the items you’ll need first in a clearly marked essentials box.

We stock moving boxes, labels, markers, packing tape and fragile stickers to help you get organised before the move.

How to hire our trailer

Need a trailer for moving furniture, household items, business stock or packed boxes? Ballito Self Storage offers one convenient goods trailer for local return hire. 🚙

To rent the trailer, please bring:

A valid South African ID
A valid driver’s licence
Recent proof of residence

Trailer specifications:

Size: 3 m × 1.5 m × 1 m
GVM: 750 kg
Maximum load: 500 kg
Single axle
Suitable for a standard Code B licence, subject to the towing vehicle and tow-bar meeting the legal requirements

The trailer must be collected from and returned to Ballito Self Storage. Bookings are subject to availability, so advance reservations are recommended—especially for weekends and month-end moves.

Moving supplies are also available onsite, including boxes, bubble wrap, packing tape, mattress covers, handy wrap and protective packaging.
