A 23-year-old man has appeared before the Newcastle Magistrate’s Court after being accused of allegedly using a fake payslip and forged bank statements to obtain finance for a Ford Raptor worth approximately R2 million.
According to police, the alleged fraud came to light after the first vehicle instalment was not paid, prompting further investigations. Authorities allege that the finance application contained fraudulent documents, leading to the case being opened.
The accused was granted R20,000 bail, and the matter has been postponed while police continue with their investigation. He has not been convicted, and the allegations will be tested in court.
