Lilongwe residents love traveling by air ✈️ than Blantyre 🇲🇼

According to our findings:
Based on aviation data for Malawi, Lilongwe dominates air travel traffic due to its status as the nation's political and administrative capital.
Furthermore, the statistics shows that many people in Blantyre are more stingy than those living in Lilongwe when it comes to air ticket purchases.

The following chart illustrates the significant lead held by Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) in Lilongwe compared to Chileka International Airport (now Bakili Muluzi International airport) in Blantyre and other regional aerodromes.

Overall, the number of passengers that travel within Malawi and outside is recorded between 510,000-600,000 annually despite the challenges of poor infrastructures.

The Trump administration is considering reducing U.S. visa-processing centers in Africa from 50 to 20 countries.

This move would require applicants from up to 30 countries to travel abroad for visa interviews, increasing costs and wait times.

The change is part of Trump's broader effort to tighten U.S. immigration controls and reshape the visa system.

Critics argue that reducing visa services while seeking African cooperation on migration enforcement sends mixed signals.

According to Pew Research Center’s survey across 24 countries, 21% of adults have never traveled outside their home country.

In India, approximately 95% of respondents have never traveled internationally. The figure stands at around 92% in Indonesia, 90% in Nigeria, and 87% in Brazil. At the opposite end of the spectrum, fewer than 1% of people in Sweden and the Netherlands have never traveled abroad.

The gap is shaped by multiple factors. Income levels, passport access, visa requirements, transportation infrastructure, geographic location, and historical travel patterns all influence international mobility. In many countries, overseas travel remains a major financial commitment rather than a routine experience.

The survey also measured travel aspirations and found that the desire to travel often exceeds the ability to do so.

Kenya recorded the highest level of travel ambition among the countries surveyed, with 81% of respondents saying they would like to visit another country if given the opportunity.

Among respondents who had never traveled internationally, 24% in Brazil, 27% in Indonesia, and 29% in India said they would not want to visit another country even if the opportunity were available.
