We just got back from Mpumalanga and we are not the same. 🌅
You know how they say the sun rises in Mpumalanga? We saw the other side of that — a sunset cruise on the Witbank Dam in Middleburg that turned the whole sky orange. Proof that this province holds beauty from the first light right through to the last.
Over five days we rode a toboggan down a mountain at Misty Mountain Lodge, swung off a cliff at Graskop Gorge, sat around a fire at Shabalala Cultural Village eating pap made from maize grown right there on the property, and woke up to the sound of the bush at Aha Nkambeni Lodge in the Kruger.
Between the adventure and the culture we had two speed marketing events where we met some of the most incredible entrepreneurs — women making traditional beadwork, charcoal producers, spa owners, adventure guides. The kind of people who make a destination come alive.
Shabalala Cultural Village deserves its own mention. We were greeted with Mampoer — yes, the real thing — joined the dancing, had dinner by the fire and listened to stories told the way stories should be told. As a South African, it hit differently. This is our heritage. This is what the world should see.
We know there is still more: Sabie, the Panorama Route, the Blyde River Canyon. Mpumalanga is a province that keeps giving.
