Let me tell you guys a story…
A while back, I sat down with an idea 💡. At the time, that’s all it was an idea. I shared it with Daniel, and one thing about this guy is that he will never downplay your idea… especially mine 😂
Sometimes all you need is one person who looks at what you’re imagining and says, “This can actually work.”
That alone gave me the confidence I needed to believe in myself.
So we started building what we now know as JKE.
And yoh… we went through hell. 😮💨😂
I remember one time we drove all the way to Kalumbila trying to secure a contract. The funny part is, because of how young I looked, we genuinely felt that if I showed up as “the boss,” these people might not take us seriously. 😂
So I remained in town while Daniel proceeded with the vehicle together with my young man, Miyoba.
When they got there, they called me and told the people, “Our boss is in Lusaka, but he’s on the phone.” 😭😂 Meanwhile, boss was somewhere in Kalumbila town trying to sound very corporate on the phone.
These people had never met us. They were about to trust a group of young guys they barely knew, so they actually drove to the police station to sign the contract.
But somehow, we pulled it off.
In our SECOND MONTH of doing business, we secured a deal worth about K450,000.
Second month.
Looking back, I don’t even think we fully understood what we were building. We were just young men with an idea, courage, a vehicle, a phone call and enough madness to believe we could make it work.
Of course, as life would have it, people sometimes know how to interfere with something that is just beginning to become great. Things changed. Seasons changed. The journey took turns we never expected.
But through all of that, Daniel has remained a supportive brother.
And with time, I’ve learned to appreciate that more.
Because when people see JKE today, they see the cars, the offices, the staff, the brand and whatever progress we’ve made.
I remember the beginning.
I remember the people who believed when there wasn't much to believe in yet.
And Daniel was there.
Some people become part of your success.
Others become part of your story.
A few become part of both. ❤️
To my brother Daniel, thank you for believing in the idea before it had a name, before it had structure, and long before it became what people know today.
We’ve come a long way, my brother. 🙏🏾
