Zimbabwe hosts the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM) Pilot Implementation Project (PIP) Airshow at Rainbow Towers, Harare, 9-10 July under the theme:

"Acceleration of Air Transport Liberalization in Africa to Improve Continental Connectivity and Integration."

The event was graced by the Guest of Honour, Hon. F. T. Mhona, Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, reaffirming Zimbabwe's commitment to advancing regional aviation and economic integration.

The SAATM Pilot Implementation Project is more than an aviation policy initiative. It presents significant opportunities to increase intra-African air traffic, open new routes, reduce travel barriers, and stimulate trade and tourism across the continent.

For National Handling Services (NHS), these developments have the potential to expand our customer base, strengthen regional partnerships, increase both passenger and cargo handling volumes, and support sustained business growth as Zimbabwe becomes more integrated into Africa's liberalised aviation market.

At National Handling Services, we remain committed to promoting and facilitating trade and tourism on the global stage through world-class aviation ground handling services in Zimbabwe.

National Handling Services (NHS) participated in the Ministryโ€™s 2026 Mid-Term Strategic Plan Review Workshop, which concluded yesterday afternoon in Bulawayo.

The workshop provided a platform to review progress achieved to date across all Departments, Agencies, and State-Owned Enterprises under the Ministry, assess challenges encountered, and identify strategic priorities for the remainder of the planning period to ensure continued delivery of the Ministryโ€™s mandate and contribution to national development objectives.

In his official opening remarks, Deputy Minister Hon. Joshua K. Sacco underscored the importance of performance management, accountability, and collaboration in achieving the Ministryโ€™s strategic objectives and advancing Vision 2030. He encouraged Departments, Agencies, and State-Owned Enterprises to critically evaluate performance, address implementation gaps, and strengthen coordination across the transport and infrastructure sector.

Permanent Secretary Eng. J.P. Makumbe emphasized the need for hard work, unity, and teamwork among Ministry staff and parastatals, noting that collective effort remains essential in delivering quality transport infrastructure and services that support national development.

During the workshop, NHS Chief Executive Officer Mr Phillip Rambakudzibwa presented the organisationโ€™s strategic review and positioning, highlighting the aviation sectorโ€™s critical role in driving trade, tourism, and economic growth. He noted that modern airport infrastructure and efficient aviation services are key enablers in positioning Zimbabwe as a competitive regional destination for both business and leisure travel.

Hon. Sacco further emphasized that the workshop was not merely an administrative exercise but an important accountability platform. He stated that it serves to measure performance against the National Results Framework and Sectoral Results Framework, ensuring that programmes and projects remain aligned with national priorities and deliver meaningful benefits to the people of Zimbabwe.
โ€œThe success of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development depends on collective effort. No single Department or Agency can achieve our mandate in isolation. Strong partnerships, effective coordination, and shared accountability are fundamental to our success,โ€ he said.
