Settle Carlisle Railway CRP The Settle-Carlisle Railway Development Company (SCRDC) is an accredited (by DfT) Community Rail Partnership.

For travel timetables, news from the region, Dales Railcards, Group Travel enquiries, shopping and much more visit www.settle-carlisle.co.uk The Settle-Carlisle Railway Development Company (SCRDC) was set up in 1992 as a not-for-profit limited company in response to the call from the Transport Secretary for all political parties to work together following the highly documented reprieve of the Sett

le-Carlisle rail line in 1989. In 2020, we were successfully accredited as the Settle-Carlisle Railway Community Rail Partnership (CRP). The accreditation, certified by the Department for Transport (DfT), is awarded in recognition of the community centred projects and services we provide across the Yorkshire Dales and Cumbria. We work in partnership with the rail industry, local businesses, community groups and organisations to encourage socio-economic engagement along the world-renowned Leeds-Settle-Carlisle railway. As station adopter of both Settle and Appleby stations, we also work closely with a group of dedicated volunteers to maintain the upkeep of the station’s gardens. We provide a range of services and products that benefit locals and visitors to the Yorkshire Dales and Cumbria. We are contracted by Northern, the train operating company (TOC), to provide promotion and marketing of the rail lines timetabled services (including the Leeds-Lancaster/Morecambe railway), management of the Dales Railcard for local residents, organisation of group travel, provision of station staff at Settle and Appleby and operation of the on-board refreshment trolley service. Our catering portfolio includes running the station café at Skipton (Café Express) and the Ribblehead Visitor Centre & Coffee shop. In recent years, we have operated special heritage charter trains to provide local residents the opportunity of a day out in York (The Christmas Comet, 2017) and Chester (30th Anniversary Express, 2019). In 2020, we provided on-train catering and marketing services for the ground-breaking ‘Staycation Express’; a timetabled, tourist-centred, first-class Charter Train affording the opportunity to travel in style along one of the UK’s most historic and scenic rail journeys.

This summer, a brand new play comes to the Settle-Carlisle line!

Lives Along the Line has been written specially to mark our 150th anniversary year, and tells the stories of the people and communities connected by this remarkable railway.

Performances take place at the Public Hall in Appleby on Saturday 4 July and The Victoria Hall in Settle on Sunday 5 July, and we've timed each show so you can travel via train to either (or both!) performances

Tickets are now on sale, and we'd encourage you to book sooner rather than later as spaces are limited.

This week is and we thought we'd kick it off with sharing just some of what we do as a community rail partnership!

A community rail partnership works to connect people with their local railway, supporting communities along the line through projects, events and partnerships that make the railway more than just a way to get from A to B.

For us, that means everything from supporting our local communities, working with schools on projects, promoting the line, running the onboard trolly service and so much more.

We're really proud to have received official re-accreditation from the Department for Transport this year, and continue our work with local communities.

We'd love to know, what does the Settle-Carlisle line mean to you? Tell us in the comments below. 👇
