💫 : From Renewal to Final Handback: Guide Bridge Complete 💫
Over two successive possessions, Swietelsky UK was proud to support Network Rail's £700,000 investment in renewing a key section of track at Guide Bridge, where the Glossop line joins Denton.
The first phase of the works saw our Swietelsky UK Kirow team successfully deliver:
🔹 Single line renewal
🔹Removal of 440 yards of life-expired track (22 panel lengths)
🔹 Installation of 440 yards of new 60ft pre-curved concrete track panels (22 lengths)
Throughout the renewal, innovative solutions helped drive both safety and efficiency:
✅ Utilisation of an Engcon head for enhanced precision and flexibility during lifting operations
✅ Use of a panel beam, removing the need for working at height while minimising personnel exposure on site
Last weekend, our focus turned to completing the project with a renewal follow-up tamp, undertaken by our 08 4x4 Tamper equipped with e-Bank technology.
This critical stage ensured the newly installed track was brought accurately to track design, aligning and consolidating the infrastructure to deliver the geometry, stability and performance required for long-term reliability.
From track renewal and rail installation through to final tamping and handback, the project is a fantastic example of collaboration, planning and engineering expertise coming together to deliver a safer, smoother and more reliable railway for passengers and freight operators alike.
