Here for day two of our potato trial event at GR Ward in Caythorpe, after an exceptional day yesterday!

Official opening hours are 9-2pm but with storms forecast we may need to finish early, the suggestion would be to arrive asap if you are coming today

All set up for the 2026 Caythorpe Potato Days, a lovely day so far but tomorrow may not be so kind when it comes to the weather!

We’re here from 9-4 today and 9-2 tomorrow so please drop in and see the full Meijer range of varieties including our new heat tolerant early baker Drummer

Looking forward to next week for what is an excellent couple of days - where the entire potato breeding community comes together on one site to demonstrate the latest variety introductions. Meijer Potato will have our full range on display including robust early baker Drummer and our latest crisping winner Lady Avalon!

Happy national fish and chips day 2026!

Over the last week we’ve been sending free samples of our fantastic Lady Jane to leading chip shops all over the UK and will be reporting back on how they enjoyed them very soon. We are also hearing that Lady Anna continues to perform exceptionally well out of store, and we are all counting down to the start of the new season Accord crop too which is now only several weeks away from harvest!

However you serve or enjoy your chips, have a great day and let’s all continue to support our local chippies 🏆

That's a wrap on our 2026 trial planting.

From West Cornwall to Scotland, the whole Meijer Potato UK team have been out and about planting small trials of our latest seedlings, any of which may be our next blockbuster variety! Replicated trials that mirror other trial plots planted by our colleagues all over the world, early trials, dedicated trials for blight, internal defects, powdery scab, demonstration plots - and with locations hand picked to observe outcomes in varying soil and climate conditions.

We now look forward to monitoring their progress and developing our future plans based on their results!
