After a 9 year restoration, now delighting passengers on the wonderful North Norfolk Railway. The steam locomotive Newstead was scrapped decades ago - or so it was believed. She was the most incredible 'barn find' - 39tons of 1929 yorkshire steel iron and copper - carefully hidden away and lovingly preserved in a convent of closed order monks. Now volunteers old and young are restoring her and lea

What an honour to have Newstead double head with Sir Nigel Gresley from Minehead to Bishops Lydeard this evening. Did you stay out to see it yourself? Send your pictures and videos, and we'll share our favourites.

Last day of the gala tomorrow. Newstead banks some trips to Crowcombe Heathfield, then does some Williton trips solo. Last opportunity to enjoy this plucky Hunslet strutting her stuff through the Quantock Hills.
