Yesterday we attended the first Accessible Cruise show in Banbury, Oxfordshire.

I loved meeting some of our group members from a page I run (see photos) especially away from being on our hols! The group on for people interested in P&O Cruises has 3.8k members and if you are interest in joining I can send you the link.

Yesterday we learned how Mobility at Sea can assist my husband through hiring a rollator for our next cruise in December.

I have put a QR code for The Baggage Handling Company Limited in the photos so you can discuss with them any hire equipment requirements you may have to see if they can be of assistance. There is nothing worse than struggling with your own care needs in a cabin without having any equipment you you daily at home. I know I have done this on our last three cruises without a toilet seat riser!

We also heard from ‘The Baggage Handling Company’ who can provide a service that collects your luggage from your home address and delivers it to your cabin. (UK ONLY) IMO this would be a convenient way for those who travel to Southampton to embark on a ship who travel by train of coach to Southampton. There are weight limits see the photographs.

The person who organised the cruise show is herself a Powerchair user. She works for an independent Travel Company and we use Deanne for booking our holidays as she removes the stress of booking direct with companies. She understands our needs and books any holiday not just cruises. In 15 minutes she had noted all mine and Andy’s requirements, where we wanted to go, including how much we wanted to spend. You can be put on her early booking list as we have already booked a holiday with her in 2028! Wheelie On The Waves- Accessible Cruising & Disability Advocacy

This is not a sales pitch this is for information for those who take holidays with disabilities or not. I am only paying forward information I have gathered by being at the show yesterday.

Today we attended the first accessible cruise show organised by Wheelie On The Waves- Accessible Cruising & Disability Advocacy

We spoke with Alison & Sophie from Mobility at Sea who made us realise we can hire a rollator when on our cruise holiday. First phone call tomorrow is allocated to them! Use the link to look at their fb page.

Mobility at Sea arrange hire equiptmemt to be delivered to your allocated cabin on the morning of embarkation ready to us. From rollatores, scooters & profiling beds.

If you are going on a cruise or thinking of booking a cruise I personally will tell you to contact Deanne who advocates for cruising being made accessible & is also your travel agent. We highly recommend her & she can also book for people who are do not have a disability or mobility issues.

So why not have a look at both pages & contact Deanne if you want to book a holiday or cruise with someone who is part of our community who takes the stress and anxiety of booking direct with a holiday brand..

This is one of Deanne’s fb pages.

All in all a good experience of the inaugural Accessible Cruise show with the hope Deanne can organise more!

This event is being held in Banbury on Sunday. I will be attending as I am always looking for ideas for cruises.

This event is being held in Banbury on Sunday. I will be attending as I am always looking for ideas for cruises.

6th September marks something very special happening in at Lock 29 in Banbury. Our Travel Advisor Deanne is hosting the first Accessible Cruise Show from 11-2pm. Wheelie On The Waves- Accessible Cruising & Disability Advocacy

We will be attending as we have only been on cruises with one brand & in the future may be swayed towards other brands. As a full time Powerchair user holidays are often a logistical nightmare before I have left my house! For example-Have I booked an evacuation chair incase of emergency & support for my husband? Triple checking insurance, the overnight hotel, and parking? Have I printed all of the required documents & luggage labels? Which routes are we taking to to our destination? On those routes where can we do a pit stop? Exhausted thinking about it.

Having already booked a couple of upcoming trips with Deanne we put our trust in her to book everything required for us for the actual booking. For example she trawls through our bucket list cruise holiday destinations & finds the ship & accessible cabin with evacuation chair for us. This eliminates the endless phone calls.

So if you are interested in taking a cruise & do not know know how to get started with a booking take a trip to Banbury on Sunday. You will be able to speak to the brand companies & Deanne has organised guest speakers from 1130.

Let’s hope this is the first specialised show & there will be more to come!

Hi everyone
It feels like I have been AWOL for a while. In my defence the weather zapped me this year & I have had a few vehicle issues. So, now we are entering into the ‘ber months from tomorrow 1st September. For my husband & I this means our holidays are looming. We try to go away over our wedding anniversary at the end of September each year. This year we will be in Norfolk Breydon Water Holiday Park. We have an accessible caravan booked & we are taking our hounds with us. I will try to make some posts during the week of our travels & accommodation.
We then have sometime at home before our Christmas shopping trip. More of that to come nearer the time.

This is very true!
