🚨 ANOTHER HORSE TRANSPORT SCAM 🚨
Yet again, we’re hearing about someone being scammed out of money by someone advertising themselves as a horse transporter.
Please, please do your homework before booking anyone to transport your horse. The cheapest quote isn’t always the bargain it first appears to be. 🐴
Did you know that legitimate commercial horse transporters must hold the appropriate Transporter Authorisation issued by APHA (Animal and Plant Health Agency)?
Transporters carrying out journeys over 8 hours require a Type 2 Transporter Authorisation, and these can be checked against the APHA list of authorised transporters.
Unfortunately, this is becoming a regular occurrence. Horses are precious, and handing them over to someone to transport is a huge responsibility. Spending a few minutes checking who you are booking could save you money, stress and potentially a whole lot of heartache.
✅ Check they are properly authorised
✅ Ask for their transporter authorisation details
✅ Check their credentials where possible
✅ Look for genuine reviews and recommendations
✅ Be wary of unusually cheap quotes
✅ Never be afraid to ask questions
A professional transporter should be happy to answer them.
If a quote seems too good to be true, take a step back and do your homework before handing over any money.
