THE POLAR EXPRESS Train Ride is coming to Wensleydale Railway this Christmas! Book your tickets today: yorkshiredalesthepolarexpressride.com Join us on a train journey back in time.

● We are operating our Heritage services between Bedale, Leeming Bar and Scruton stations where you will be able to step back in time and enjoy a living museum experience. During March we will be operating a regular

shuttle service between Bedale and Leyburn.

● Travel to Scruton where you can see our multi award-winning recreation of a country station at the turn of the 20th century. Meet the station master and his wife who will share stories of life in the early 1900's whilst showing you around the station building and piggery in the back garden.

● You can also spend some time visiting the 'Thankful Village' of Scruton itself which is a delight, enjoy a wine or two in The Coore Arms, visit the play park or perhaps take one of our suggested walks through farmland and on peaceful roads.

● Travel to Leeming Bar where the ongoing work to the station house can be seen before a full re-opening within the next couple of months. The restoration has been completed and focus in now on furnishing the station house to how it would have looked in the early 1920's.

● The Station Master is ready to show you proudly around his station which features a parcels office, ticket office, ladies waiting room, parlour, kitchen and washroom.

● You can also spend some time in the village itself which features two pubs (The Corner House and The Reubens), a play park, W Braithwaite & Sons Garden Centre and Simply Dutch.

● Experience the classic Yorkshire market town of Bedale on your return with something to enchant everyone from the hungry to the curious.

● Visit the many local attractions on the doorstep.

● Superb walking and cycling country. We have preserved 22 miles of the former line from Northallerton to Garsdale that opened to passengers in full in 1878. Timetabled services currently run over the 5 miles between Bedale and Scruton and we are actively working to restore the full length of the line as part of our historic rail and transport experience. We hope to reopen between Bedale and Redmire in Spring 2022.

37250 and 47714 are on holiday this week, enjoying themselves down at the West Somerset Railway! 🚜🥄🏖️

They’ll be back home soon and then be out in action during our ‘Loco Hauled Summer’ days!

In addition to special events like our Industrial Diesel Weekend (29-30 August), we plan to run loco-hauled services as follows:

✅ Every Wednesday from 1st July until 9th September.
✅ Every Saturday from 4th July until 12th September.
✅ Every Saturday or Sunday that has a catering train will also be loco hauled all day.

Locomotive rosters will be published closer to the time, and all locos are subject to availability.

🎟 For just £25, our ‘Ranger’ ticket allows you to spend the whole day riding our trains. Combine this with our kids for a quid offer*, and you’ve got a great value family day out!

🎟 Children aged under 16, not accompanied by a paying adult, must pay ½ the price of an adult fare. For example, an all-day Ranger ticket will be £12.50, instead of £25. Please book in person at the station booking office.

Volunteers from our Direct Works Team (DWT) are building new access steps at Leeming Bar Station.

The steps will provide safer platform-to-shed access for our staff and also an improved evacuation route out of the shed in case of emergencies.

Thank you team 👏 Excellent work.

Many hands make light work. Why not come and join our Direct Works Team?

✅ There’s no shortage of on-going maintenance required to keep our railway in top condition.
✅ It’s rewarding work and you will be made very welcome.
✅ We’re always keen to hear from people with practical, civil engineering, building, carpentry or electrical experience.
✅ No experience? No problem. If you’re willing to get stuck in, we will support you.

It's surprising what you find in the undergrowth on our side of the fence. This photo shows volunteers from our Vegetation Team returning after their shift with an oil drum, a lorry tyre and a pile of barbed wire to recycle. Perhaps they should call themselves The Wombles!

Our Vegetation Team do a tremendous job keeping our lineside safe and clear. They’d welcome your support. Why not come and join the team?
