At the TradeWinds Shipowners’ Forum 2026 during Singapore Maritime Week 2026, our MD & CEO Hor Weng Yew joined industry leaders to discuss whether disruption is a threat or opportunity for shipowners.

The panel discussed how today’s environment could be structurally different after the near term cyclical effects normalise.

As geopolitics, regulation, and trade flows become increasingly intertwined, shipping decisions are no longer purely commercial. Where the industry once relied on observable patterns and reference points, there is much more noise and signals that leaders must face. In this context, competitive advantage comes down to a few fundamentals - optionality in assets, capital discipline, organisational capability, and most importantly, consistency and trust.

PCL Names Next-Generation 40,000 DWT Multi-Purpose Vessel — PAC LIBRA

We are proud to celebrate the naming of PAC LIBRA — the first in a new series of 40,000 DWT multi-purpose vessels designed to bring greater flexibility, safety, and sustainability to our fleet.

Tailored for project and heavy-lift cargoes, the vessel introduces a new level of versatility and energy efficiency — integrating advanced systems that enhance performance, reliability, and environmental compliance.

The new vessel has twin-crane configuration with wide open decks, providing flexibility to handle heavy-lift and oversized cargoes safely and efficiently and a hydraulic tween-deck system. The PAC LIBRA is also equipped with energy-saving technologies that improve overall fuel efficiency and reduce emissions. The ship is ESS- and LNG-ready, aligning with PCL’s long-term decarbonisation roadmap.

“The addition of PAC LIBRA underscores our commitment to renew and optimise our fleet with modern tonnage — strengthening our operational flexibility while maintaining efficiency across key project and dry bulk trades,” said Hor Weng Yew, Managing Director & CEO, PCL.

Our appreciation goes to our customers, classification society ABS, and our partners — including PaxOcean Zhoushan Shipyard — whose collaboration and expertise made this milestone possible.
