It’s always an honor being a small part of these horse’s journeys to a more successful life! ❤️
He's here!
CHRN is now working in partnership with American Humane Society. As our first rescue transfer we have taken in "Spirit" aka The Belgian Waffle House for further evaluation, vetting and rehoming. Spirit was part of a large scale removal from a rescue in a Texas that AHS spear headed last year in December. He was one of the 89 animals removed and the folks at AHS share that his story is one of the main reasons the investigation was able to proceed to getting a warrant. While we may never know his entire history, we do know he's at least late teens and he is in fact a stallion. He's also a big yellow teddy bear of a horse! He's already showed his amazing personality and people skills off since arriving. He will be fully evaluated by our vet on Tuesday, one of the things we will determine is if it's safe to geld him. As an organization we believe all horses are happier gelded when it's safe to do so. We have gelded horses in their 20s very successfully, and we've had some that remain in a bachelor herd here as well. He does have some significant issues with his back legs we will continue to address, but I forsee this big boy being a big gelding before long! We don't know his riding or driving history but you know we've got a lot of helpers here that will be sure to evaluate him. We are appreciative of AHS in trusting us with him and look forward to working with them in the future. We also need to send out a big thank you to Sierra Ridge Equine Transport for their excellent care of Spirit on this trip from Texas. He arrived happy, hydrated and feeling great! Stay tuned for updates!
