Attention Thurston County community members! The Intercity Transit Authority is seeking civic-minded individuals to serve on the Community Advisory Committee. This is a great opportunity to use your voice to provide feedback and help shape transit issues and policies that affect our community. Successful candidates are also eligible for a monthly stipend to support their participation. Complete the application by Friday, Oct. 2 for a chance to share your ideas and influence local public transportation policies.

🚧 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘀 𝘂𝗽 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 WSDOT: Starting Tuesday, Sept. 1 @ 6 pm through October 🚧

Northbound I-5 travelers should plan extra time for overnight and early morning trips between Lacey and DuPont in Thurston and Pierce counties.

Starting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will reduce northbound lanes of I-5. Two lanes will be closed overnight.

Work will pause for the holiday weekend and resume after Labor Day. People are encouraged to check the project webpage for the latest information.
𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀:
• 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday (overnight)
• 5:30 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday
• 6:30 p.m. Saturday to 9:30 a.m. Sunday
When work is completed on northbound I-5, crews will switch to the southbound direction.

Work zone speed cameras
Speed cameras rotate through work zones, including this project. Numerous signs will warn drivers if a camera is at a location. Work zones can be active day or night, and drivers should assume workers are in the area if they see a warning that the camera is in that location.

Know before you go
Crews expect to complete work by the end of October. Some work may be rescheduled if it rains. Before heading out the door, people are encouraged to check traffic conditions via the WSDOT Travel Center Map or WSDOT app for real-time information.

Real-time signage installation is almost complete at the Olympia Transit Center! Each bay at OTC now has a digital sign showing real-time departure information for routes that serve that bay. These signs will also show if there are service alerts affecting those routes. In addition, there is an interactive kiosk in the transit center to allow customers to plan trips on the spot. In the Customer Service lobby, there will also be a digital sign showing all departures at all bays. All digital signs are fitted with a push-to-talk button, allowing riders with low or no vision to hear the same real-time information. This pilot project, funded in part by a Regional Mobility Grant from WSDOT’s Public Transit Division, aims to improve customer access to real-time transit information and streamline communication between Intercity Transit and our customers.

While service changes happen one to three times each year, we recognize that change is never easy—especially after our May system redesign heralded so many changes at once.
