June marks the start of summer, and things are heating up at Schultz Airshows!

Each weekend of June features events where Schultz Airshows will be in attendance and/or providing our Professional Services.

To start, several of the Schultz Airshows Professional Staff will be lending their time and decades of experience to the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum's annual World War II Weekend at the Reading Regional Airport.

NASCAR returns to the Pocono Raceway on 13-14 June and Schultz Airshows will be on hand coordinating the Opening Ceremonies flyovers for the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series and the Cup Series races. These races will be televised.

On 20 June, we'll be at the picturesque Truckee Tahoe Airport in Truckee, California as they bring back their Air Show & Family Festival following a one-year hiatus.

Finally, on 27 June, we'll be at the Texarkana Regional Airport in Texarkana, Arkansas. This will be the first airshow in Texarkana in more than thirty years!

Our Professional Airboss, Announcing, and Ground Operations services will be provided to Truckee and Texarkana.

As we observe Memorial Day weekend, Schultz Airshows honors and remembers the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who gave their lives in service to our nation. We fly in gratitude and remembrance of them.

A powerful moment at the United States Naval Academy graduation today as the U.S. Navy Blue Angels flew overhead in tribute to the graduating class. A fitting salute to an incredible group of future leaders as they take their next step in service to our country.

Schultz Airshows is saddened to learn the passing of well-respected artist, author, and aviation historian, Gary Velasco.

Gary's impact on the warbird community is immense. He is quoted as being the “World’s Foremost Authority on Nose Art” and was commissioned to recreate iconic, hand-painted, and historically accurate nose art found on many warbirds you see flying at airshows and museums across the country. His talent extended beyond aviation art to music, and he was also a passionate advocate for veterans and military history.

Gary was a fixture and a founding member of the Warrior Flight Team, which flew airshows with a pair of L-39 Albatrosses in the last decade. In addition to airshow flight displays, the Warrior Flight Team brought awareness to veterans from all branches of the Armed Forces and providing veterans with the opportunities for career growth beyond their time of service. The team's signature black L-39, known as Vandy 1, had its markings painted by Gary. Schultz Airshows had the privilege of working alongside Gary and the Warrior Flight Team at several airshows and spending time with Gary at other events where he had his "Fighting Colors" merchandise on display.

The photos attached were taken by members of our staff at Naval Air Station Oceana in 2011 and at Dover Air Force Base in 2017. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Velasco family, the Warrior Flight Team, and everyone who knew him.

Schultz Airshows has had the honor and privilege of working with the Snowbirds many times in our 33+ year history. The CT-114 Tutor is an iconic aircraft - truly an aircraft Canada can be proud of - and we support the team’s decision as well as that of the Canadian Forces and the Canadian Government regarding the sunset of the Tutor.

We look forward to working with the Snowbirds upon reactivation, when they’ll be flying the CT-157 Siskin II.

The 11th Annual TBM Avenger Reunion & Salute to Veterans was truly a remarkable event. A thunderstorm moved through around 5:30 AM this morning, bringing heavy rain and strong winds. By 11:00 AM, the skies had cleared, the sun was shining, and temperatures reached a beautiful 80 degrees for the remainder of the day.

All aircraft were able to fly again today, and the airshow performances were outstanding. Performers and attendees alike thoroughly enjoyed the event and the incredible atmosphere throughout the weekend.

Event organizers announced that this year marked the largest attendance,with approximately 20,000 spectators over the two-day event.

Overall, Friday and Saturday were spectacular, and we extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who attended, participated, and supported the 11th Annual TBM Avenger Reunion & Salute to Veterans.










Next stop — Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pennsylvania!

We are honored to be participating in the Opening Ceremony Flyover on Saturday, June 13th and Sunday June14th at Pocono Raceway. Looking forward to an exciting weekend and an incredible event with race fans from across the country.

May 16 is Armed Forces Day, where we recognize the men and women who are currently serving in the United States military. Their commitment, discipline, and sacrifices continue a tradition of service that runs deep through every aspect of life.

Today, we thank those currently serving and also say a big thank you to the sailors aboard the USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier, who returned home after an eleven month deployment.
