There is a very specific window of time when the Pacific Northwest is absolute perfection. Fall has arrived, the leaves are showing off, the air is crisp, and the rain hasn’t yet decided to make itself our entire personality for the next six months.

Hands down, the BEST time to be in the PNW!

We’ve been soaking up every bit of this glorious fall weather, spending time outdoors, and doing some serious leaf peeping. Because nothing says elder millennial like getting genuinely excited over a tree turning orange.

We’re enjoying every minute before the Big Wet™ begins.

Tongues Out Tuesday is going international again!

Meet Scarlet, a gorgeous Golden Retriever joining us all the way from Indonesia! And Scarlet is not just living a good life. She is living the wonderfully spoiled, dog-friendly travel life we fully support.

From adventures and travel days to exploring dog-friendly activities with her humans, Scarlet is basically out there doing important research on how to live your absolute best dog life.

She even has her own account, , so go give her a follow and keep up with her adventures!

Goldens also have a special place in our hearts here at Two Girls and a Tilly. Emily grew up with two Golden Retrievers, so seeing that classic happy Golden face and tongue-out smile will always get us.

Fall is here, the pumpkin spice is flowing, and apparently nobody told the ticks to pack their bags. Rude.
Just because temperatures are dropping doesn't mean these tiny freeloaders are clocking out. Ticks can remain active throughout fall and even on milder winter days. And unlike your emotionally exhausted millennial self, they don't need a vacation.
So, dog moms, keep those fur babies protected! Continue vet-recommended tick prevention, check your pup after outdoor adventures (especially around the ears, neck, paws, and between the toes), and remove any ticks promptly with a tick-removal tool or fine-tipped tweezers.
Because the only thing your dog should be bringing home from a fall hike is muddy paws, questionable smells, and an attitude.
Fall dog safety is year-round dog safety. Protect the pups, enjoy the adventures, and leave the creepy crawlies outside where they belong.

They say walking a pit bull makes people move out of your way. And honestly, they’re not wrong.

Except when you’re walking Tilly, our short-legged pit bull dachshund mix, people aren’t moving out of fear. They’re stepping aside, pointing, and asking, “WHAT IS THAT?!”

Calm down, people. Have you never seen a brindled bratwurst before?!

She’s got the face of a pit bull, the legs of a dachshund, and the attitude of a child-free millennial woman with disposable income and absolutely no one to answer to.

We’re not intimidating. We’re just confusing.

Anyone else have a dog that makes strangers do a double take?

Tongues Out Tuesday, meet the lovely Lila Fae!

This sweet girl is an adopted pup who found exactly what every doggo deserves: a safe, loving forever home.

Adoption is so much more than bringing home a dog. It is giving them a place where they belong, a family to call their own, a cozy spot to sleep, approximately 47 unnecessary nicknames, and the confidence that this time, they are home for good.

There are so many incredible dogs waiting in shelters and rescues for their person to find them. If you are thinking about adding a furry family member, consider adoption. Your future best friend might already be waiting for you.

The next couple of Two Girls and a Tilly adventures could very well put us face to face with some much bigger locals.

When traveling with your dog, wildlife safety is just as important as finding the best dog friendly trails, hotels and patios. Elk may look like majestic forest puppies, but they can see your actual puppy as a predator and react accordingly.

Our rule? Leash up, give wildlife plenty of space and remember that we are visiting their home, not the other way around.

Because Tilly may be built like a brindled bratwurst, but the elk does not know that.

Fall weather + farmers market + brunch = say less.

We spent the day exploring Ballard, Seattle, and packed in pretty much everything we want from a perfect fall day trip: wandering the Ballard Farmers Market, popping into cute local shops, eating a ridiculously good brunch, and checking another Seattle troll off our list.

Then we headed over to the Ballard Locks and salmon ladder because apparently we’re the kind of people who get genuinely excited about watching fish navigate infrastructure now. Growth.

Cozy weather, good food, local shopping, a giant troll, and some very determined salmon? Ballard understood the assignment.

Pet Safety Fact: Can Narcan work for dogs? Yep.

Naloxone (Narcan) isn’t just for humans. Veterinarians can use naloxone to reverse opioid poisoning in dogs, including exposure to fentanyl and other opioids.

If your dog may have been exposed to an opioid, signs like extreme sleepiness, difficulty waking, weakness, collapse, or slow or abnormal breathing are an emergency. Naloxone may temporarily reverse the effects, but it can wear off before the opioid does—so veterinary care is still essential.
