Welcome to Alioto’s Plaza!

A new public space is officially open at Fisherman’s Wharf. 🎉

For nearly 100 years, this site was home to the iconic Alioto’s restaurant. After closing in 2020, the site sat vacant for years.

Today, it’s a new public plaza with views of the Golden Gate Bridge and historic fishing boats, a new harbor walk, and the future home of WOODS B**r & W**e Co.!

This transformation was shaped by a year of collaboration with the Fisherman’s Wharf community. ❤️

Mayor Daniel Lurie, partners, and members of the Alioto family joined us to celebrate this new chapter.

Whether you’re visiting for the first time or you’ve been coming to Fisherman’s Wharf for years there’s something here for you! Come see it for yourself! 👋

Port and the San Francisco Police Marine Unit were out towing boats today to prep for a Hyde Street Hatbor project when they spotted an underweight juvenile California sea lion aboard. One quick call to The The Marine Mammal Center later, and “Ruth B” — named after one of the boats moved — was on her way to Sausalito for some much‑needed rest and recovery. 🦭⚓️

From training to a career on the waterfront. ⚓️

The Port of San Francisco’s Rising T.I.D.E.S. Internship and Mentorship Program helps prepare participants for careers in the trades through on-the-job training and mentorship from journey-level Port tradespersons.

For David McNeil, the program opened the door to his next step. After completing Rising Tides, David was promoted to a Pre-Apprentice Waterfront Steward Ambassador and then to General Labor Apprentice with the Port.

Congratulations to David and the entire Rising Tides graduating class! 👏Thank you to Supervisor Shamann Walton and Port Commissioner Adams for joining us to celebrate this accomplishment.
