Malcolm Malcolm has been an innovator and leader in the deep foundation industry for over 50 years.

From very humble beginnings Malcolm has experienced growth over the past 5 decades to its present position as a preeminent specialty foundation contractor in the world. Malcolm began with a single truck mounted drill rig performing drill rentals and small hard dollar projects. This early business was successful and continued to grow with further purchases of equipment and with the addition of a ca

dre of operators and laborers that found steady work with Malcolm. Hard work and the delivery of a quality, on time product were the keys to the steady growth of this company. In addition to concentrating on the development of his company, John Malcolm focused on studying the industry to see where it was headed in terms of improved techniques and equipment. In developing this insight, John Malcolm has been on the leading edge of designing new equipment and in adopting different techniques of drilling that has enabled his company to complete some of the most difficult foundation and earth support projects undertaken in the industry. In addition, John has studied the techniques and equipment employed in the European and Asian markets, and has brought these new ideas and equipment to the United States market. Today, Malcolm has the largest fleet of rotators, oscillators, and top drive drill rigs in the United States. Malcolm’s equipment fleet has grown from a single truck mounted drilling rig to a $180 million equipment fleet that contains limited access rigs that can walk through a factory door or climb a slope, to large drill rigs capable of drilling holes up to 18 feet in diameter and up to 300 feet deep. In addition to the more standard drill rigs, Malcolm has also expanded its fleet to include jet grouting, deep soil mixing, and Omega displacement pile rigs. Perhaps the greatest achievement of John’s has been the development of the internal management structure of the company which will carry the company forward as an industry leader and innovator. This management structure is broad based and contains leaders in every facet of the foundation industry. Malcolm has also expanded into the Pacific and South America with Malcolm Drilling Pacific and Malcolm Drilling International.
