Congratulations to our June 2026 Dispatcher of the Month, Jenessa Stewart!

On April 25th, Jenessa was assigned to SFPD radio channel A6, which monitors the Northern, Central and Park Districts, one of the busiest and most demanding channels in the city. A case manager from a Single Room Occupancy Hotel reported hearing gunfire on the 7th floor. After receiving multiple calls reporting the same incident, Jenessa put the safety of responding officers first, ensuring they received critical updates as the situation unfolded and that backup units were with the initial officers before they entered the building.

With Jenessa’s coordination, responding officers had a clear line of communication as additional resources were directed to the scene. She followed up with reporting parties for additional information while maintaining accurate documentation. This helped officers search the building, safely take the suspect into custody, and recover the firearm. From the first officers arriving on scene to the suspect’s arrest, the recovery of evidence, and the completion of a nearly 10-floor building search, the incident was brought under control in just 22 minutes.

Jenessa’s diligence, composure, and meticulous attention to detail throughout this incident reflected the very best of public safety dispatching. Every transmission she made contributed to the successful resolution of the incident. Beyond this specific incident, she continues to serve as a shining example of professionalism, leadership, and dependability within DEM. Her consistent excellence and steady presence make her an invaluable role model for new dispatchers entering this profession.
