Looking back at a special milestone as SANTACO Western Cape welcomed 25 learners at the launch of the TETA Programme in Bellville.

The day marked the beginning of a journey focused on skills development, youth empowerment and creating pathways to future opportunities.

A special thank you to TETA for partnering with SANTACO Western Cape and investing in the development of our young people.

SANTACO WESTERN CAPE EXTENDS CONDOLENCES FOLLOWING TRAGIC ROAD ACCIDENTS

SANTACO Western Cape is deeply saddened by the tragic road accidents on Nelson Mandela Boulevard and in the Prince Albert area, which have resulted in the devastating loss of life and left others injured.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families, friends and loved ones of those who lost their lives. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected, and we wish the injured strength and a full recovery.

“We are deeply saddened by this tragic loss of life. Behind every life lost is a family and a community now grieving, and our thoughts and prayers are with them during this incredibly difficult time. As an industry entrusted with transporting people every day, we carry a responsibility to put safety first. SANTACO does not condone reckless or irresponsible driving, and we continue to urge all operators and drivers to exercise the highest level of care and responsibility on our roads.” Said SANTACO Western Cape Public Relations Officer, Mr Makhosandile Tumana

Where public transport operators are involved, SANTACO Western Cape will engage with the relevant authorities and structures to establish the facts and ensure that the appropriate processes are followed.

The circumstances surrounding these incidents remain under investigation. We therefore urge the public and media to allow the relevant authorities to complete their investigations. SANTACO Western Cape will not speculate on the causes or apportion blame before the facts have been established.

These tragedies are a painful reminder that every journey carries a responsibility to protect life. We appeal to operators, drivers and all road users to exercise caution, patience and responsibility on our roads.

SANTACO Western Cape stands in solidarity with the families and communities affected and remains committed to promoting safer and more responsible public transport.

May the souls of those who lost their lives rest in peace.

She Drives Change: A Season to Rise 🌸🌿

SANTACO Western Cape brought women from across the industry together for a meaningful Women’s Round Table, creating a space for connection, reflection, shared experiences and empowerment.

The day was a reminder of the important role women continue to play in shaping and driving change within the minibus taxi industry, and the power that comes from creating spaces where their voices and experiences can be heard.

As one season makes way for another, we celebrate the women who continue to rise, lead and drive change.

Another important stop on the journey of transformation. SANTACO Western Cape’s Regional Roadshow reached the CATA Region, bringing together regional leadership, operators and stakeholders for two days of meaningful engagement.

The discussions created space to reflect on regional priorities, unpack key challenges and identify opportunities to strengthen collaboration and collective action as we continue working towards a stronger, more united and transformed industry.

A significant step towards peace and stability in the Western Cape minibus taxi industry.

SANTACO Western Cape welcomes the Peace and Ceasefire Agreement signed by CATA and CODETA. The agreement reflects a shared commitment to resolving disputes through dialogue, strengthening cooperation and prioritising the safety of commuters, operators and drivers.

The focus now is on ensuring that this commitment translates into lasting peace and reliable public transport services for our communities.
