The first Askari 65 Power Long-range Cruiser is now in the final weeks of production, and as the yacht designers behind this remarkable vessel, we are incredibly excited to see her launch.

Designed by Du Toit Yacht Design and built in aluminium by Askari Yachts in Cape Town, the Askari 65 brings together long-range capability, confident contemporary lines, generous onboard living and serious ocean-going intent.

A 65-foot aluminium power monohull of this nature occupies a rare space in today’s market - created for owners who want something highly capable, highly personal and built to go the distance.

A real privilege to work with an owner not once, but twice.

From one of the very first Balance 526s to the new Balance 580 Blue Diamond II, it’s been an incredible journey working alongside Rich, and with the teams at Balance Catamarans and Nexus Yachts/Balance Catamarans in St Francis Bay on two very special builds.

Proud yacht designers of both these beautiful catamarans.

An evening view from La Grande Motte.

These beautiful moments were captured by our General Manager, Sean van Rensburg, at the in France on yesterday’s balmy Friday evening after a busy day at the show.

We’ve kept the original sound of the video - the gentle ambience of the marina, rigging and water - because it perfectly captures the atmosphere of an international boat show as the day winds down.

After a day of meetings, reconnecting with partners and supporting our designs on the Balance stand, it’s a reminder of why events like this matter so much.

In the video, you’ll also catch the elegant lines of the Balance 580 at rest in the evening light.

Greetings from La Grande Motte.

Our General Manager, Sean van Rensburg is at the International Multihull Show this week, where the world’s latest multihulls, ideas and innovations come together in one place.

For a yacht design studio, time at major boat shows matters - meeting with industry partners, connecting with owners and builders, seeing new developments firsthand, and staying close to the conversations shaping the future of boating.

It’s also a pleasure to support Balance Catamarans at the show and see our designs represented on the international stage.

If you’re at La Grande Motte and would like to connect with Sean, feel free to get in touch.

A strong result on the water this past weekend at the Western Cape Dinghy Championships.

Our General Manager, , sailing in the 505 class with Dave Rae of , finished tied on points for first place after four days and 12 highly competitive races, ultimately taking second overall on countback.

Sean’s years of sailing experience, combined with his engineering background and extensive yacht design experience, continue to shape the way he approaches design work at DTYD. Real world performance, handling and practical feedback remain an important part of the design process.

Still competing, still refining, still learning.

It gives us much pleasure to see the vessels we have designed out in the wild, exploring the world in their natural ocean habitat.
Here’s a beautiful image of the first Balance 502 to be launched, Tiger Lily.

Tiger Lily, our Balance 502, out in the wild.

Built in Cape Town, now out seeing the world.
Couldn’t be prouder. Life is lekker 🇿🇦
