Happy September everyone! With all the kids returning to school and a nice chill in the air most mornings, we are shifting into Fall mode over at the Cyclery! πŸ‚ In the last 2 months of our season, we are getting pretty serious about selling some bikes to make room for fun, new things to come next year.. If you've ever wanted to buy a bike out of our rental fleet, now is your time! We are selling both conventional AND e-bikes from our rental fleet as well as tons of brand new bikes from last year's stock. Here is a short summary of what we have:

Used rental bikes:
- Primarily selling off our Aventon Level.2s and the Fuji E-Crosstowns. We also have tons of conventional peddle bikes from KHS and Fuji - hybrids, cruisers, etc! Prices variable based on mileage/number of times they've been rented.

New:
- We still have some brand new bikes from KHS, Fuji, Tuesday, and more! These hybrids, cruisers, and mountain bikes are priced to sell πŸ˜‰

While excluded from this particular sale, we of course still have plenty of new Cannondale, Jamis, Aventon, and 3-wheeled recumbent bikes ready for their new homes as well!

Give us a call or come visit us in the shop if you're looking to purchase something listed here! Sale starts now and runs until we either sell out of bikes or we close after Halloween. πŸŽƒ

Thanks to Deb Taylor for this awesome sunset photo of the shop.

Today we met George, who came all the way from Perth, Australia! He is having the most epic adventure right now riding from Los Angeles across the country to DC so he could fully experience all of the states. We loved hearing about the hospitality shown to him along the way and even found out that some folks we know "adopted" him for a few days in Morgantown, WV! What a small world! Wishing George a fantastic time during the rest of his trip here in the US. πŸŽ‰

The GAP Trail is fully reopened in Ohiopyle State Park, but please continue to exercise caution closer to Confluence, as there was more significant damage in our area. There is a spot right by the Ramcat boat launch that usually washes out pretty badly, so be extra careful there as well!

08/12/2026

Recent storms have caused washouts, downed trees, and rockfall along the GAP in and around Ohiopyle State Park. Crews are actively clearing debris and making repairs. Between mile markers 64 and 65, travelers should dismount and walk through a washout, and additional rockfall near mile marker 69 requires extra caution. Big thanks to park crews for addressing these issues.

The same storms have also caused uncontrolled rockfall near Layton, temporarily closing a segment of the GAP near the ongoing Layton Bridge replacement project. A free shuttle is available around the closure while crews work to safely clear the rockfall in the next day or so.

Conditions can change quickly. Before your trip, check the GAP’s Updates page for the latest trail conditions, closures, and alerts: https://gaptrail.org/updates/

⚠️ Multiple rockslides and washouts present on GAP Trail throughout Ohiopyle State Park following heavy rainfall earlier this week ⚠️ For everyone's safety, they are asking folks to avoid the trail completely while crews work on cleanup and repair. We will continue to share new info as we receive it.

Need to get around the temporary trail closure between Duquesne and Homestead? We've got you covered.

A licensed shuttle service is available daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to transport riders and their bikes safely around the closed section. The shuttle operates on a first-come, first-served basis, with a one-way trip taking about 16–20 minutes.

What an eventful weekend we had in Confluence!! On Saturday, the town celebrated America's 250th birthday with a market, contests, games, live music, and more. A good time was had by all! On Sunday, just under 200 determined and talented athletes competed in the Mount Davis Challenge, a USA Cycling-Sanctioned road race covering 40-56 miles along one of the most beautiful routes in the area. It was fun chatting with all of the competitors and their families who, in some instances, came from hundreds of miles away to participate! Needless to say, the town square was lively and joyous all weekend. While we unfortunately didn't take ANY photos of the festivities, we did take these photos of some folks who visited our shop on Sunday. This is Shelley and James - they rode here all the way from Boise, Idaho through Canada and are currently headed to DC (and then Maine!) on these insanely cool recumbent setups. And yes, those are solar panels which double as a roof over their bikes! We really enjoyed getting to ask all about their unique setups and wish them the best of luck on the rest of their journey. πŸŽ‰

Due to the "very unhealthy" air quality index from the wildfire smoke that has moved into the area, we have decided not to offer bike and recumbent rentals today (Friday). The shop will be open otherwise during our normal hours, 9am-5pm. While we certainly aren't a health agency, we highly recommend against riding today if you can avoid it. You can feel the smoke irritating your lungs after simply being outside for a few minutes. Stay safe out there today, folks!!

Most folks walk into Confluence Cyclery picturing a classic two-wheeler, but don't sleep on our TerraTrike lineup! Many people have no idea that we offer three-wheeled options as well. These recumbent trikes are a total game-changer.. stable, low to the ground, and just plain comfortable to ride. Whether you're looking for extra accessibility and stability, or you just want to lean back, relax, and cruise in style, a TerraTrike delivers a riding experience unlike anything else. With several different wheel sizes and tire treads between each model, we can offer something for all types of adventures - whether that's cruising around in urban areas or hitting other trail surfaces like gravel or dirt.. there's even a foldable option for those tight on space for storage and transport. To take it a step further, we also offer electrifications for these! Give us a call to arrange a consultation or stop by to take one for a spin - we even have a few in our rental fleet (both standard AND electrified!⚑️). We would be happy to work with you to get you out on one of these.
