Daniel O’Renick has spent decades in motion, serving in the U.S. Air Force, flying Learjets and King Air 350s, and even stepping into a semi-truck when the industry slowed during COVID. His mindset is simple: keep your skills sharp and stay ready.

Based in Kentucky and flying regularly out of Bowman Field, Daniel has completed dozens of domestic assignments with JetPro Pilots. His path to aviation started with a childhood fascination with the TV series “12 O’Clock High” and carried through military service, GI Bill training and a lifelong commitment to the craft.

Today, he balances life in the air with time at home with his wife, Debbie, their three children, and 11 grandchildren.

One of the best parts of the contract pilot lifestyle is the stories you collect along the way.

JetPro contract pilot Mark Couch recently checked a bucket list destination off his map in Oporto, Portugal, renting a motorcycle (pictured above) and riding through the city and into the Douro Valley, home of the region’s famous port wine. Not a bad way to spend time between flights.

His travels have also taken him to Mallorca, on the quieter side of the island away from the busier coast where tennis legend Rafael Nadal grew up. There, he found a hidden gem of an Airbnb perched on a rocky hillside, surrounded by sheep farms, complete with an infinity pool, stocked wine, and unreal Mediterranean views for just $200 a night.

For Mark, contract flying is more than a job. It is a passport to experiences like these and so many more. And trust us, he has plenty of stories where that came from.
