Somewhere between the territories of making dry hay and chopping haylage is the land of baleage.

Hard to believe we are already stocking up for the spring when it isn't even Thanksgiving yet. With all the supply chain issues there were last year in the industry, we aren't taking any chances this year!

There's a big push from crop packaging product manufacturers to receive products earlier this year. Even offering incentives to buy and receive earlier than in the past. One of the issues is a shortage of containers in exporting countries all around the world. This article highlights Asia, but all over the world there are these dynamics that have an impact on the ability to get twine, net wrap, etc from your local supplier. We are being encouraged to bring as much product as possible in as early as possible this year.

Equipment shortages in Asia are worsening as importers in the United States and Europe struggle to return empty containers to China and other Asian manufacturing hubs, casting doubt as to whether the international supply chain will be ready for the upcoming peak shipping season.

How many times does this question have to be answered? I understand if someone can't have dairy, but in terms of what is healthiest, here's a quote from the article. I would recommend reading this quote all the way to the end:
"Milk provides us with important nutrients including calcium, protein, vitamin B12, vitamin A, vitamin D, riboflavin (B2), zinc, phosphorus, and iodine. The quantity and quality of cow’s milk proteins is high, with both whey and casein containing all nine essential amino acids. Milk plays an important role in bone health and is a particularly rich source of dietary calcium.
Research investigating the ability of the body to absorb and utilize calcium determined the best-absorbed calcium source is dairy milk and its derivatives.
Although dairy foods do contain some saturated fats, the fat in dairy doesn’t seem to be overly problematic for heart health. A large study featuring people from 21 countries, published in 2018, found dairy consumption was associated with a lower risk of heart disease and death."

The nutritional quality of the different alternatives varies considerably, so it’s important to take note of these differences when making a selection.

Jeff attended the FFA Banquet at Norwayne High School yesterday evening to begin our partnership with local FFA programs.

Jeff was able to give out two awards in his Dad's honor. The first award was the Entrepreneurship Award, which was given to the student(s) who made the most money on their project. The second was the Placement Award, which was given to the student(s) who made the most money in their Agriculture related placement jobs.

Congratulations to Kendra Keener and Kendra Marty for winning the Entrepreneurship Award and to Annie Boss and Tim Gunkelman for winning the Placement Award!!! Thank you to all who came to the banquet to show their support. We look forward to all we can do with local FFA programs in the future!
