High-Impact and Far-Reaching Winter Storm Underway

Heavy snow, sleet, and freezing rain has already overspread much of the south-central U.S. and will continue to expand eastward through Sunday. Be sure to follow advice from local officials and stay safe!! ❄️

11/07/2025

This started about 5:30pm and they said 4 hours then so I wouldn't expect anything to reopen before 9:30pm. Saw a few comments on another post that some cars were being let across one at a time when possible.

Weather Update:

The next storm system for the PNW moves in on Halloween! An atmospheric river will be aimed at the PNW, initially making landfall across Vancouver Island and parts of B.C. early Friday before gradually sliding south throughout the day. Rain moves into the northern Olympic Peninsula to Bellingham Friday afternoon, sliding south toward Shelton, Bremerton, Everett and Seattle by dinner time - these areas north will see wet trick or treating while areas farther south look to stay dry until Friday night. Plan for wet pumpkins and be safe🌧️🎃

Who knew there was this growing rivalry at SeaTac?

Who knew there was this growing rivalry at SeaTac?

Alaska Airlines says it will establish a 787-9 hub in Seattle, with plans to deploy as many as 17 Dreamliners across its growing long haul network. To support the widebody push, the airline will open a new pilot base in Seattle next spring; Alaska currently has four 787-9s in the fleet.

Route by route, the move sets up a bigger transpacific and transatlantic play from Seattle. Alaska has outlined a path to 12 intercontinental destinations from its hometown by 2030, and it will add 787-9 flying on Seattle–Tokyo Narita from January 6, 2026, with London and Rome to follow in spring 2026.

Rivalry watch: Delta is fortifying its own Seattle franchise with new long haul routes to Rome and Barcelona, priority access to 18 gates, and a combined Delta One Lounge and Sky Club spanning about 24,000 square feet. Delta says it now operates nearly 180 peak-day departures to 60-plus destinations from SEA and positions itself as the city’s largest global carrier.

Alaska’s widebody base and staffing in Seattle sharpen the contest for international flyers against Delta’s long-established global network and premium lounges. Expect schedules on both sides to keep evolving as the Seattle showdown intensifies.
